Together with the country reps, the future of the IJMC was reshaped!

At the AGM 2024 at the beginning of the year, many innovations were decided by the country representatives that will shape the future of the IJMC in the coming years.
First of all, the previously known Jet Scale class, divided into the 15kg and 20kg classes, will be supplemented by the new official Turbo Prop class, which was tested for the first time in Italy as the Turbo Prop Demo class.  The Turbo-Prop Class 2024 Rule Book can already be downloaded from the IJMC homepage under the menu “documents”.
From the JWM 2025, there will be a so-called Basic Jet Scale Demo Class below the Jet Scale Class for the first time. This class is intended to make it easier to get into the Jet Scale class and to enable pilots with a simple Jet Scale model to take part in a World Championship. Compared to the Jet Scale class, the static evaluation has been significantly simplified again, so the model can be documented in the static with a minimum of one photo and a maximum of up to 6 photos. The different evaluation categories can be found in the IJMC Basic Scale Demo Class 2024 Rule Book. As with the Turbo Prop Class, the ratio of static to flight is weighted 1/3 to 2/3 in the Basic Scale Demo Class. The maximum wet weight limit is also 25kg +0.5%, there is no subdivision into 15kg and 20kg classes in the Basic Jet Scale Demo Class. The IJMC hopes that the introduction of the Basic Jet Scale Demo Class will revitalize the IJMC JWM for all pilots who like to fly a jet scale model, but are afraid of the high financial and time expenditure to participate in the Jet Scale Class.
The journey for the 15th JWM will go to Qatar in 2025 to the QRCSC (Qatar Remote Control Sports Center) 55km north of Doha. The QRCSC is one of the largest model airfields in the world with a runway length of 820mtr. In the back of the runway, a breathtaking model flying resort is currently being built in the middle of the desert with artificial lakes, a model flying museum, numerous entertainment options for children and much more. Due to the extreme heat in the summer months, the JWM will be postponed to November 2025, so that pleasant temperatures of 25-28 degrees Celsius will prevail at that time.
In 2026, the IJMC will host an OJM (Open Jet Masters) at the model airfield in Alessandria (Italy) for the first time. In the sense of an open competition, jet scale pilots will be given the opportunity to fly a competition based on the rules of the IJMC over an extended weekend, which does not involve any team or country ties. Rather, individual pilots who are simply interested in competing between the world championships should be addressed.
In 2027, there will be another premiere: for the first time, a JWM will be held at a model airfield with a good infrastructure. The MFC Albatros Bölsdorf/ Stendal has agreed to host the 16th IJMC Jet World Masters in Germany in summer 2027.  The site is located near Magdeburg and has already gained enough experience with countless national events and the organization of German Jet Championships to successfully host such a large international event. Preparations are already underway to be a great host for pilots and guests from all over the world in 2027.
With all the current geopolitical uncertainties, we all hope that the planned changes and events can be implemented as hoped over the next four years. It remains exciting, so let's keep our fingers crossed that we’re going to meet as planned.
